Golden Rod Way
Golden Rod Way
Small house on Golden Rod Way. Enough space for me to run and play. My imagination ran wild back then.
That little space brought so much joy.
F.r.i.e.n.d.s every Thursday night- I got to watch with my Mom- stay up a bit later than I was supposed to.
Singing to A Chorus Line on my bed, looking into my mirror- convinced I was on Broadway.
In that little house on Golden Rod Way.
A circle of pavement on that little street. Learned to ride my bike without training wheels. Poppy and Mom running quickly to keep up with me- trying to make sure I didn't ride into any mailboxes or trees. What a day that was on Golden Rod Way.
Pool days in the summer 10 steps away- pretending I was Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
Jackie and Jessie over all the time. We would seek and we would hide. We would make believe, sing, dance, run and play. In that little house on Golden Rod Way.
Dinner for 2- me and my Mom. Every night after swim practice- talking and talking like we were friends instead of Mom and daughter. I knew then and I know now- we needed each other.
Christmas Eves and Christmas Days- magical as ever. Filled with love, comfort- a sense of forever. For when you're a kid, you don't think far ahead- just in the moment, in the now.
I'm so thankful for the years that I Started to pave my way in this wonderful life, on that glorious street called Golden Rod Way.
